Looks like some of the roll cage is molded onto the chassis panels, and all th einternal electrics are molded onto the chassis, which makes it difficult to carbon firbre decal them! Plus some of the suspension is moldedinto other parts too! What do you notice about the kit? Is there a lot of masking to spray some parts? |

Front suspension lower arms are molded in place. One draw back is how the body is molded in so many different bits !! Just another good test for us modellers

Started the kit today.
Been cutting parts off the tree that need to spray painted. Been putting together some of the parts before painting...i.e the dash is all painted X18 and there are 3 parts to go on. I glue the parts on first so the whole dash is painted and there is no risk of getting glue marks after painting. Vents have been glued to the wheel arches along with the "splitters" that go on the font spoiler. The body is molded in 6 different bits....body/bottom skirts/front/rear bumbers and bonnet. Will probably glue all the body parts together after painting as they all fit onto the body well when tried today. I thought about putting the body all together first then painting it all as one. Decided not to as i think it will be better to paint the parts seperate to stop any paint runs. There would have been so many different angles i'd have to spray the body from, i was worried the paint would get to "heavy" in some ares. Another thing i noticed was that people that dont paint there kit and just slap them together wont be able to do this as the parts for the roll cage are molded in Black and Silver. So far so good with the model.

Update on CLK Model.
Coming along nicely. Have most of the parts painted, just a lot of the smaller detail stuff to do. The roll cage is painted in TS42 which is a light gun metal grey which is hard to spray on. If you spray it to heavy the black seems to run out of the paint and leave stripes in the paint. So i've done 4-5 very light coats. I assembled the roll cage first before painting so that i could fill the join marks to give it a nice clean look. So far everything has been very straight foward. Most of the parts are sprayed so it makes painting easy. I cut all the 'trees' up in to parts so i can spray them all seperate. I have not touched the body yet as i glued the front bumper in place first and have allowed a few days to harden up. Tomorrow will be sanding day and primmer day !!! Pics to come when work gets its camera back

Well another day spent on the CLK. (Only moved from the table to eat and toilet breaks !!!)
Have got the body painted and ready to start polishing up in a day or 2. All the kit is painted and well start the making of it tomorrow. All the small detail painting is done. The decals are on the engine/inside cab etc. Was a bit disappointed in the main decal that is on the engine cover as it has dried in a pale white colour Cant wait to start the building of it !!!!
