Ferrari 340 Mexico Spider - 1/43 BBR

Hello,
this is a little exercise for me in making openable doors. So I got this BBR model from eVULbay to hone my skills on it. Its not a bad little kit and I especially like the spoked wheels! So I watched few youtube tutorials on how to do hinges and started. Cut the door first, I have to say that the walls are damn thick. Next I made a new one from brass sheet, I transffered the shape wby ust using some masking tape. I had to thin the walls with my dremel quite a bit in order to fit the hinges. Next I made them from 0.7mm brass tube and 0.45mm brass rod. Glued to the body using Tamiya 2 part epoxy putty and welded to the door itself. This morning I tried the door and it fits a bit too perfectly into the opening, so I will have to factor the paint and the gloss finish. This will be the next step together with adding the missing details. My plan is to work on the driver's door and if succesfull to repeat on the other side.

Any comments, questions and constructive crticism are most welcome!

Good start. Always liked the weird shape of these Mexicos.

Thank You Alex, your builds have been inspiration for me over the years!

Here is the update - First I worked on the door and made the inner construction from brass and resin putty. Then I cutted the second door but the damn resin broke on 3 parts. I drilled holes, inserted brass wire and superglued them. Not perfect, it will need some sanding to fully fix it, but will do I think. Problem is that after gluing it, the opening seems a tiny bit bigger
Afterwards I made the second door. I had to use the lefthand side one as template and bend it backwards because the righthand side door was too broken to use it as template.
Still need hinges etc, but I will get there eventually .

as always recomendations, constructive criticism etc are most welcome!

Best regards,
Sasho

As resin is so brittle, that is one of the reasons I won't do this on the 1/43 resin stuff I build. I know there are some extremely talented people out there who do, but I have nowhere near the skills to do it. Probably also the patience.
