Windshield Wipers on an 88

Today my 88 Toros wipers began over extending the windshield by about 4 inches. It eventually will pop the clip loose (from catching on the door) and the wiper will fold over and almost fall off. I adjusted the long bar that connects the 2 sides but that isnt enough. Im not aware of another adjustment. Does anyone have any ideas of how to remedy this problem. I even went as far to put on a 15inch wiper blade but it still goes past the windshield, not as far as the 21inch but enough to make it catch. This is my beater car, that I drive everyday to work, so I am open to anything.

Re: Windshield Wipers on an 88

Something is loose or worn in either the wiper linkage or the arm on the motor. Possible the main link is bent, this used to happen if the wipers were turned on and they were frozen to the w/s.
