metallic paint question...
I've heard that a metallic primer is advisable when using paints with metallic chips. can't i just spray the base with a silver like Tamiya Silver Leaf?

I've used metallic paints a few times over plain ole Tamiya grey and white primer with no problems.

Didnt know there was a primer specifically for metalics, I just use good old grey and white, the latter if you want a lighter colour. Just beware that paint from different manufacurers can sometimes react with each other, try and stick wityh paints from the same source.

Re: metallic paint question...
I know a lot of paint shops use metallic primer when shooting a base coat that has flakes.

I don't know of any specific mettalic primers but I usually spray a base coat of gold or silver under my mettalics as it seems to give them more depth

Re: metallic paint question...
On any transparent or metal flake paints you should always use a metallic undercoat. Silver, gold or copper. So, Primer, metaliic undercoat then metal flake/transparent.
