BMW K100 Caferacer

New project. I wanted to do another bike so I picked this ugly BMW K100 from Tamiya from my pile. Off course this won't be a stock project. I want to make a caferacer from it.

First I cutted the rear subframe till it was in line of the wheelcenter. Then I made a start on the rearseat/cowl.

Then I added Milliput and sanded into a rough shape.

Re: BMW K100 Caferacer

I'm back again with this bike.

First I got the putty finally smooth enough for primer. The front mud guard was trimmed to give it a better look. Then I painted the parts in VW Blue Anthracite. And some 2K Clear.

The frame and wheels were painted gloss black and also 2K clear.

The steering is very ugly of this bike, so I had to replace it with something more sportive. I couldn't find the right parts, so I made my own clip ons. Just a piece of tube that fitts over the fronfork, drilled a hole in it and added a brass wire. Now I can easily glue the handlebars on it in the next step.

Awesome work so far! I like cafe, monster style bikes! I have this kit, and your build gives me ideas!

Re: BMW K100 Caferacer

Most parts were painted, so I could start on the buildingproces. First I mounted the engine into the framework. I also added the rearlink and wheel, and frontfork. I drilled the holes in the brakediscs.

Next step was making a new headlight. I searched in the partsbox and found a usefull headlight from a Vmax kit I think. I made the mounting ''ears'' and with screws I mounted them on the frontfork and headlight.

The fueltank and seat were also placed.

Nice, I like this kind of rework on model, if I can add something...lower the headlight a bit to make center of it in line with center of tail section.
