Actron makes pretty good ones. I got one for about $80 at Autozone but im sure you can find it online. Your car should be OBD 2.

Re: "Code reader- who sells a good one?

Harbor freight has two or three models that run from $40-60. If you are only going to read codes or reset them that should be all that you need. Your local auto parts store will most likely read codes for you for free, but some stores will not reset codes.

In my experience, there are two codes that come up frequently, one is for a loose gas cap, and the other is for insufficient EGR. Always check that the gas cap is on tightly as a start, and if that is not it, the code reader can pinpoint the system.

If you happen to get a code for insufficient EGR, the problem is more than likely a clogged passage between the EGR valve and the throttle body, rather than an expensive EGR valve. Hope this helps

What code would that be for the loose gas cap?
