no start after loss of oil
hey guys,
01 s10., 130k miles, 4x4, 4.3. going down the road sunday, started hear noise, reved it, was bearings.!! shut off, drifted to stop. oil was everywhere. line to oil filter broke. repaired line, refilled oil. started ok. ran ok couple minutes, started going down road, about a mile then started missing. went to auto store look for a scanner. on to next store started missing real bad. pumping pedal to get up to speed. didnt make it to next store. started missing real bad til stalled. got help to push off road. scanner said- po335 crankshaft pos sensor, po442 evap emission con sys leak detected (small leak), po452 evap emission con sys press sen low input. replaced crankshaft position sensor. turns over, sounds like it wants to start. spits every now and then, like has spark, but just wont run. erased all codes, unhooked battery again for few minutes. nothing. starting fluid- nothing. brother mentioned flooding. i floored and held it. it started.!! but so eratic didnt sound good. ran that way, as i fluttered the gas pedal for 5 seconds. stalled never ran again. now scanner says po341 camshaft sensor circuit range/performance. been 4 days. gonna work on pulling it home. any ideas.? thanks, john |

Re: no start after loss of oil
Try cleaning electrical connections with contact cleaner that got covered with oil.

Re: no start after loss of oil
I would do an oil change .. then I would cut open the oil filter to inspect for crankshaft bearing debris. your problem maybe these metal particles interfering with the pickup on the crank/cam sensors.
with no spark because the cam/crank sensors are dead the combustion chambers will flood with fuel. when ever I check for spark or crank engine not looking for it to start I remove the injector fuses. with oil loss hopefully the bearings/cam/crank did not get scored .. |
