Hard braking causes chime
2009 Focus SE Sedan +/- 130k - If and when my daughter hits the brakes to make a moderate to hard stop the car chimes once with no dash light indicators. I've made it happen myself with the same results. Good pedal, no fade, no pull, no brake noise, no leaks, no codes. New pads and rotors on the front did not eliminate that problem but they were worn enough to justify replacement. Rear brakes are in good shape but not new. I've tried to get a indicator or code or anything to to pop and give a clue. It is like the car is scolding the driver for braking hard. Any ideas?

Re: Hard braking causes chime
I have seen posts about parking brake sensor engagement causing a chime. Maybe in the hard braking, the sensor is making contact leading to the chime coming on. I'd try working the parking brake on and off many times to get movement in and out of the sensor to clean its contacts. Then see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a shot.
