Question 87 300zx n/a

I just got a 300zx 87 n/a runs great but every time I downshift or get on it the back end drops really low and it sounds like my rear hatch is getting shut. I replaced the shocks but that didnt help, Im going to put springs that lower about 1'' to try and eliminate the weight transfer issue. Any advice would be helpful. thanks
