need a wiring harness for '05 tC
Hey, my son's car is in the shop cuz he burned out the wiring harness trying to install a sound system.
My question is: the shop is having a hard time locating a wiring harness for a tC with a manual transmission. They've had 2 harnesses sent that are for an automatic transmission. They can't seem to find the right one. It's been a month now. Should it be that hard to get the right one???? I want his car back cuz I'm tired of him borrowing mine!! |

How did he manage to burn out a wiring harness installing a sound system? That's boggling my mind. Also, which harness did he burn out? if it's the main vehicle harness, you're paying upwards of $1500 for a new one, plus labor to swap it out.
Information laden posts.

Re: need a wiring harness for '05 tC
The guys at the repair shop DID show me the old harness where my son attached wires from amps and stereo and the electricians tape over his splices were melted thru the bundle of wires in the dash. There were also some bad spots melted thru where my son wired in some ground effects lights under the car.
Unfortunately, my 16 y/o son knows just enuf about his car to get him in trouble!! I've told him, after this fiasco, he can't work on it any more until he takes an automotive repair class or two at school........(but I'm sure that won't stop him--ha) |

So what's the problem? Which harness is it?
Are you capable enough to replace the burnt sections of wire? Do you want to shell out the cash for an entire harness? I really don't care about your son. You asked a question about his car and you didn't give enough information for anybody to help you out.
