Why does my front end bounce?

I know I could be burned alive at the stake for asking this question here, but the Dodge forum is kinda slow and I need an expert answer, as soon as possible.

My truck's front end bounces at speed. It starts when I'm going over 60mph on the highway and hit a bump in the road, then the thing bounces up and down, almost uncontrollably. It only stops when I slow down. I was told it was the steering damper, the shock in the middle, but replacing that didn't help the problem at all. What could be causing this?

Re: Why does my front end bounce?

my chevy did that, get some gas matics and it will help fix the problem, but the main cause for that is the springs arent as good as they used to be when you hit a bump it compresses them a bit and springs you up and down. aka the front suspension could be going bad

Re: Why does my front end bounce?

bouncing up and down, with no roll, is always shocks/struts

compression and damping is what limits/regulates bouncing, and thats completely regulated by the shocks/struts on any vehicle.

Re: Why does my front end bounce?

As Bob said, it's the shocks.

First check the mounting bushes. If they're shot then it might be a cheap fix.
If the mounts are fine then it's the shocks that're shot.

Re: Why does my front end bounce?

A bouncing problem is damper related, not spring related.

If the springs were shot, the front end would be hanging low.

Re: Why does my front end bounce?

check your alignment that will tell you if somethings out of wack if springs are weak that will also show up
