Re: '95 5.7 auto - non working tach , odometer & speedo

Co. on eBay charges $300 for a completely rebuilt cluster, you E mileage & vin, with a $100 refund when you send them yours. Today, parts svc dude at Chevy dlr said cluster is the problem they repeatedly find. I took a chance on one from eBay, $100, with nearly identical mileage as mine, and waiting for me at the post office

Today at Chevy dlr, parts guy said the odometer control/gears/numbers aren't part of the problem, and can be left alone

Well, it may be a corny presentation, but she does determine that in this case, it's the ign switch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmKldczT9DM&sns=em

Just wanted to give a shout out to this post, I had the identical same symptoms in my 95 GMC Sierra (tach and speedo not working, truck sluggish/not shifting correctly). I read through this and decided to replace the ignition switch and it resolved the problem. Take note that it's the electrical switch, not the part you put your keys in. Not the funnest repair cuz you have to take some of the dash apart and your steering colum, plus you need an E4 inverted torx socket. But, i haven't seen the issue on over a week since I installed it!! Thanks for sharing, it saved me a lot of headaches!!

forms back in the 2000-2015 years GM had the ignition key switch failed ...in the 1990's vehicles forms had the transmission shifting issues ..
many vehicles shutdown the engine and the GM vehicles killed the people ..
GM did not change the part # ... I looked on C SPAN SENATORS & gm CEO TALKING she lying ...people sued GM,,, killed them ..
