2015 Toyota Camry Back-up Camera Not Working
I have a 2015 Toyota Camry with 9700 miles on it. I purchased the car at auction and it had set in inpound for 2 years I am guessing. When the car is placed in reverse, none of the following work:
1. Reverse lights 2. Navigation system back-up camera (screen is black/blank) 3. Reverse indicator light on the electronic dash 4. Reverse indicator on the gear shift plate on the console Everything else on the vehicle works and it is loaded. Ive heard tell of the neutral safety switch possibly causing the backup circuit not to work. Any help or direction would be appreciated. |

Re: 2015 Toyota Camry Back-up Camera Not Working
I would check the loom of wires inside the trunk by the Driver's side trunk hinge. Those wires have a tendency to fray and break from all the flexing they are exposed to. Open up that loom and check the wires inside there. If you can, identify the color of the wire going to the back up lights and check that inside the loom. Every generation Camry has had this same loom location. Years ago I even saw this problem on my brother-in-laws brand new 1991 Camry.

Re: 2015 Toyota Camry Back-up Camera Not Working
Thank you for the reply Mike. I opened the wire loom up a few days ago, and none of the wires appear to be broken yet (I would hope they were not with only 9700 miles on the car), although I have read that is a common issue. I am leaning toward the neutral safety switch, but curious if there is a switch in the shifter area. I noticed that there seems to be a little rectangular plate that can be removed towards the front of the shifter plate, but don't know what is below it or how to remove the plate.
