2002-2010 Ford Explorer 4.0L V6 Thermostat Housing Replacement
2002-2010 Ford Explorer 4.0L V6 Thermostat Housing Replacement
Tools: 8mm socket Flathead Pliers Pick Air Problem: Bad Thermostat and housing bolts will not loosen only spin, cracked housing that leaks, bad gasket on bottom of housing Repair: Following your upper radiator hose trace it to the thermostat housing. Taking your pliers remove the three hoses connected to the housing. It is easier to remove the small hose completly off the top and out of the way, slide the bottom clip down the bottom hose and remove the top hose. Taking your flat head unplug the sensor on the housing. Remove the three 8mm bolts off of the housing. This then should allow the housing to come out. You have to work it through the space to get it comepletly out. You then want to take a clean rag and wipe any dirt or debris from where the housing meets the block. Take your flat head screwdriver and transfer the sensor from the old housing to the new and replace the oring using the pick. Re assembly is the same as disassembly. Use air to blow coolant off of motor that was lost during the process and bleed the system. |
