BMWs: Are all BMWs Made in Germany?
Sounds like a trick question, but I've read postings from individuals stating that their car was made in America.
Say it ain't so...... |

Z3's and X5's are made at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. There are many other BMW plants around the world, including South Africa.

There are also regular 3 series that were made at the SC plant as well... the very first car to come out of that plant was a E36 318i

The Z3 and X5 are only made in America, and then exported all over the world.
The Mini, is made in the UK, and uses engines from Cryslers plant in Brazil The rest of the BMW line up as well as being manufactored in Germany is also manufactored in: America, South Africa and Taiwan. Part for the cars come from all over the world, includeing Japan and Australia.

Various models are assembled in other countries other than Germany, including South Africa. However, considering the high frequency of other car manufacturer recalls in the United States, I hope this doesn't rub off on BMW-USA as well!

Malaysia? Ha Só
I just bought a 2000 323 CI Convertible w/sports package but I pulled up the history on CarFax to make sure it wasn't in a flood in the Phillipines or a earthquake in Sicily, and luckily it had a clear history. However, the thing I found friggin' weird, the car was exported from Malaysia. What the hell is that? I was looking for some nice German port name, but instead I have a vision of "Charlie" driving my shit around while he's drinking his Tom Ka soup. Anybody know anything about this?

I don't think they have a plant in Malasaya but I could be wrong, it could have just been a distribution center or some shipping got messed up and they picked the car up in malasya. Who knows, but at either rate you have a BMW. They could have also just used a Malasian shipping company and someone entered the home of the ship and not the home of the shipment into the database.
