88 Eldorado Double DIN?

Hey everyone,

So I'd like to upgrade the radio in my 1988 Eldorado Biarritz, and I'm wondering if it will accept a doubleDIN-size receiver.

I'm not having a lot of luck with the "will it fit?" selector online, so I thought I'd ask here.

The factory system is the Bose option, so I'm also wondering if a new radio will still work with the existing 4-speaker/4-amplifier setup. I don't want to lose sound quality.

Thanks a million!

As memory serves, Bose does not play nice with much of anything other than Bose.

Not knowing your vehicle specifically, is it possible that it's DIN & a half? If nothing else, you can always go single DIN and get a spacer. Most places like Crutchfield will give you the bits and pieces either free or at reduced price if you buy the radio from them.

What she said above ^^ ... most OEM stereos don't do well interfacing with aftermarket equipment. Many of the Bose equipped stuff of old had the purpose built amp and EQ made into each speaker housing. There may be additional processing in the headunit. They are typically an all or nothing type deal.
