Re: Some of your rarest kits?

Here is my rarest kit:

This is a 1/14th scale Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta "Lusso". It was only offered in kit form for a short period in 1996 when Marshal Buck at Creative Miniature Associates ran out of prebuilt orders. I doubt more than 20 where made available as kits.

MG Models got ahold of one of these and tried to copy it but their kit is much simpler and I hear they are pretty horrible in the detail department.

Re: Some of your rarest kits?

I had one of those from Marshall Buck. He sold me one of the Lemans winning 1949 kits, one of only 3 kits sold! I didnt like the oddball scale but it is a very nice kit. The MG is not a copy and is poorly done.
My rarest kit is maybe the ScaleKraft Maserati 450S that someone has copied in the USA now(M.B.). I also have the Alfa Canguro and Guilietta Sprint along with a SZ Tronica from Joker. Big kits I would say the Minidelta P3 and Ultimate P4 and Dino 206S kits in 1/12th scale.

Re: Some of your rarest kits?

I've got a couple of 1/8 Pochers - the 993 (OK, so not that rare) and the Alfa Romeo 8C-2300 Monza 1931.

Also have a 1/12 Tamiya Texaco Ma****ro McLaren M23, though it is a white box reissue and not the original.

Nice resin. Got any pictures? By the way, I did assume the Barchetta had been copied because what are the odds two different limited production model makers would develop and release the same odd-ball car in 1/14th scale!

Re: Some of your rarest kits?

My rarest plastic kit would have to be this, and of course I won't be leaving it alone when I get around to building it.

Go to www.minidelta.be for photos of the Ferrari P3 in 1/12th. That site should keep you busy if you have not seen it before. I think www.hapico.com
and www.islandcollectibles.net have photos of the Ultimate Dino 206 in 1/12th and maybe a photo of one or two ScaleKraft kits.

Best,

MG Models and ABC Brianza were were famous about 25 years ago for making Ferrari models in 1/14 scale and quite a few were made. Apparently, it was not a odd-ball scale back then.

I've got quite a few rare kits, the ones that are really hard to find right now are several Q-Model Ferraris, Climax GTOs, Little Garage 512BB Belancauto, and Scale Kraft Ferraris.

Re: Some of your rarest kits?

I would consider this Scale Kraft Lotus 16 rare. I've never seen another one of these Elva Models Nissan R381 kits. As far as plastic goes these Doyusha F1 and Otaki Group 7 cars are uncommon.
