help with testing ignition coil
So I am trying to test the primary resistance of my ignition coil but not sure if I'm testing the right part. The pictures in Haynes are drawings and not very helpful. Basically, I am getting a resistance reading of 1.5 ohms for which the manual says should be 0.70 to 0.90. In the picture below, its the connector to the left of the two spark plug wires. thanks in advance.

Re: help with testing ignition coil
This should help you out some.
Primary Coil Resistance Measure the resistance between connector terminal 3 (power) and each coil terminal. Measuring point: No. 1 - No. 4 cylinder side coil; 2-3 No. 2 - No. 3 cylinder side coil; 1-3 Standard value: 0.70 - 0.86 Ohm Secondary Coil Resistance Measure the resistance between coil high Voltage terminals. Measuring point: No. 1 - No. 4 cylinder side coil; A No. 2 - No. 3 cylinder side coil; B Standard value: 11.3 - 15.3 K Ohm

Re: help with testing ignition coil
Thanks for the replies. Those are the drawings that are in my chilton's as well. I'm still getting those ohm numbers so looks like I've got a bad coil. It's a little surprising since the car is not riding that bad. But thanks again.
Just an update, I measured the secondary coil resistance and I'm getting about 13.5 kohms which is in reference range. So I guess having a bad primary coil resistance is enough to create idling problems. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
