HELP! crank angle sensor code on swap

i just dropped in a d16y8 (sohc v-tec) with a P28 (92-95 Si/EX) ECU, and wiring harness. got it all in. the car will crank over but idle really rough (no way i'll get it to actually roll down the street) and i'm getting a code 4 (crank angle sensor).

all the swap instructions say leave that unplugged. WTF?

any info? i need this bastard to RUN!

odds are i will be doing this swap too so when you get done with the swap an overview would be appreciated. As for your question I don't know myself but you might give Speedline a call 253-584-8399 or www.speedlineracing.net and ask for Kyle. They are based right up here in Tacoma Wa. They do this stuff all the time or try Madavi Motorsports-they have a toll free number.

jason...it is a plug that the 4th gen didn't have. it comes up out near the timing belt cover. i followed these instructions:

"Transfer the Si or converted Dx to Si harness to the vtec block. On 96-00 block , ignore the (CFK) crank fluctuation sensor located inside the timing belt cover and the knock sensor at the back of the block on 96-00 civic Ex (D16Y8 block)." that info was Found HERE

this morning i went out at 8 am (40 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like 35) and yanked the p28 (v-tec ecu) and stuck my stock ecu back in, stuck back in my 1 wire O2 sensor & knock sensor and it fired right up. just the v-tec won't work until a v-tec controller is added.

i'm gonna try and still figure out the angle sensor problem. i spent $150 on the harness and $130 on the ECU. i would really hate to not use them and end up using the v-tec controller

if you have any ideas...i am open to hear them!!!

i had to run the wires from my ecu when we did the zc swap. and then we had to swap the wires because we were having the same code and the rough idle.

'twas the y8 dizzy. if you look at my last reply imentioned we switched routes and made it work with the a6 parts.

hey t-mo, you can't get to upset at an old post....at least calgarystreetracer did a search first. there are people who have been here for years and still can't find the "search" it seems

We should make an honor system for the newbies when they use the search feature...

Honestly, I thought the "search" feature was a B.S. way for more experienced AF users to get us newbs off thier backs. However, I found it most useful, and if the search didn't provide enough information, I just started a new thread with information more specific to my problem.

I'm uber glad I found this forum, I'm hoping to make my civic one hot number!
