Civic Si vs. Camaro
Do you think a 99 Civic Si could beat a 95 Camaro if they were to race?? Assuming both are stock...
I asked my friend about this and he said no but I think cause he's big on american cars and hates imports. Let me know what you think.

thanks...
hehe, well I'm planning on getting an Si in the next year or so and this chick at my school has this camaro, which I'm sure has nothing under the hood and is probably the lowest grade, and she thinks her car is the fastest in the world or something. It pisses me off and I wanted to know if I could beat her if we ever raced.. once I get my car... grr she pisses me off!!

Well I would say that she would probally win, even if it is a V6, However, it also depends on how well she can drive, If she knows how to drive that car, then I wouldnt try it, But if she doesnt know other hten jsut pushing the pedal and going, then you may have a chance. Im trying to be unbiased here.

I doubt she can drive plus she probably has an automatic. That'll give me a little more advantage... Maybe after I get a few engine mods I could beat her... Of course, that'll have to wait til I get my car

At work a friend had a 99 Si and another had a 2000 Camaro 3800. The Camaro was just barely faster. If I'm correct, I think that the V6 is said to go to 60 in 7.1 and the Si is 7.4?
Also, it seemed that any modification that was made to the Camaro made a much larger difference than for the Si. If she's got a V6, I'd say you stand a chance. If it's a Z28, I'd weld your doors on so they don't get blown off.

I checked the specs at www.edmunds.com and found out that a stock standard edition 97' Camaro V6 has 200HP, 220TORQUE and weights 3300.
enzo@af is correct, the site listed a run 0-60 is 7.6 sec. It might be close till 70~80 but I think the Camaro will pull away. Would be a good race. Rob |

lol I drove in a 2000 Camaro 3800 V6 too. It had an exuast upgrade. Prolly 210bhp, and 230 lb-ft. lol That thing was fun for a V6... It smoked the Si, Prelude, Accord, etc.
If it's a Z28 though, I think you'll lose much faster. But if you bolt on a turbo....hmmm... |

yes i know i am new to this board and yes SS camaro's are fast... but a very decent driver in an si can catch a few v6 camaro's sleeping...
i was at the illegals once, and pulled up next to a v6 (he was very cocky - he also had a chick in the front seat. and i think 2 people in the rear we lined up me: you wanna run ( i knew it was a v6) kid: nodds head girl in front seat: are you serious me: get mads mad- pulls rev up... looks over girl in front seat: he's serious kid: grins flagger: ?!?!?!what a civic??!?!?! then starts... i jump, he spins i get 2 - 3 cars on the jump pull maybe a car another car length till top of second and shift to third and shut down at about 70... tap brake lights to let him now that i gave up... wait a little and see him fly by... girl waves goodbye... it was kind of hilarious the fact that she waved as they flew passed me... on the way back they park up and tried to act like nothing happened yes i know some will flame, but that's what happened, i really thought that he was gonna smoke me or put up a better run... i was asking my friend in the passenger seat if he was even racing

hehehe
nice story i belive it ofcourse you could take a camaro with 500-600 extra pounds than usual and a semi good not as good as he could be driver
yes in most cases on the street i would say that a Civic SI will beat a camaro V6 because most V6 camaro drivers are in it for the looks more than the power and hwy you know those kind they couldnt drive fast if their life depended on it :licker:
