Cruise & Door locks
2003 Envoy XLT SLE. After having my transmission rebuilt, my cruise control only engages about 10% of the time and only at speeds below 70KM. Coincidentally, my doors locks also fail to open when I put the vehicle in Park. The transmission folks say its not their problem so would appreciate any diagnostic tips.
Might not be related, but also coincidentally changed the battery after it failed twice. No PCM codes set or pending. Last edited by washind; 11-16-2012 at 02:51 PM. Reason: New info. |

Re: Cruise & Door locks
This could be a bcm issue, you need to scan it with a high liner scanner that can access the bcm.

Re: Cruise & Door locks
Thanks for the tip. Apparently there is a 'pindle switch' on the side of the tranny that transmits gear selection that might be intermittent. I've ordered the part and will report the outcome. Oh, yeah, now notice that the dash display of gear shift selection only shows 'R' & '3' (not Park, Neutral, etc.).

Re: Cruise & Door locks
Prndl is the right term, but this is expensive guess work, no?

Re: Cruise & Door locks
PRNDL - too funny. So far only 60 bucks, tax in, for the diagnosis, straightening a bent bracket & road test. Hopefully the transmission shop will swap the Prndl thingy as part of the warranty. I'll let you know tomorrow.
Thanks again. |

Re: Cruise & Door locks
The transmission shop replaced the Prndl unit with a new OEM product - everything now works; no charge.
