Anyone tried tyre-grip traction spray
I was thinking about picking up a can of this stuff if it works. Seems like a great idea - a can of sticky resin that you spray on your tires before driving on snow and ice. But like so many things, could be worthless.
The brand I've heard of is called Tyre-grip, but there could be others as well. http://www.tyre-grip.com/

Re: Anyone tried tyre-grip traction spray
Don't fall for the gimmicks, the best thing to always do no matter what is drive for the situation. If it's snow, ice, freezing rain whatever drive slower, don't slam on brakes or try to turn hard and don't stomp on the gas. If you live somewhere that gets ALOT of snow during the winter that's when it's handy to have studded tires or 4 wheel drive. I don't think the product will work even 1/4 as good as they claim as it looks like it's just another gimmick. Someone will spray that stuff on their tires and think it gives them the ability to drive as if it was middle of the day in the summer and get in a major wreck and then sue the company and that'll be then end of it.

Re: Anyone tried tyre-grip traction spray
Oh, yeah, it's always good to keep things in perspective. I don't believe for a minute that it will let me drive as if I were on dry pavement. However, if all it does is add traction, that's fine with me; I'd still be driving extra carefully on snow and ice (or not at all if I can help it).
The problem I face is that in the Pacific NW, we don't get snow often in the city, but when we do it's a real mess. They don't have enough equipment, so only the highways get treated. Plus it's full of hills and curves; very little of straight and level roads. But since we only get snow a few days out of the year, it doesn't seem worth it to get studded tires. I could get some chains/cables, but I'd have to see if there are any available for my car (Mazda6).

Re: Anyone tried tyre-grip traction spray
studs, chains or winter tyres are all that will make a difference. tyre softener or spray-on grip won't do anything.
