Re: what happens when the timing is wrong??

Irradic Idle is probably your IAC. DSMISC.com is the cheapest place to get them.

if your timing was a little off it wouls run crappy. If it was more than a little off you would bend valves.

EDITED. the site is DSMISC.com...

Re: please help!!!!!

what did u have done at the shop? could be you need a new plenum gasket, could be you just need to dial down the idle a bit, yould be you need to loosen the throttle cable.

"If it was more than a little off you would bend valves."???

You can not bend valves with incorrect ignition timing.

Re: please help!!!!!

whole engine replaced?! well, could be a lot of things..start with the easiest.
There's 2 bolts on the back of the plenum that hold the throttle cable. Loosen it and push it all the way towards the throttlebody, then see what your idle's at. (make sure it's fully warmed up) if that fixes it, you know that was the problem. That bracket should be adjusted loose enough so that it's not putting any tension on the throttle cable...but tight enough so the cable doesn;t have alot of slack. Try this first then let us know.

warm Idle should be around 600-800, regaurdless of transmission. flywheel wont make a difference either.

he said nothing of ignition timing, so im assuming he talking about the timing belt, with WILL bend valves if it's off by more than a few teeth. Valve, meet Piston; Valve loses.

that also sounds like a misfire or wrong firing order (plug wires crossed), if its a fairly loud noise

Rock Auto is cheaper than DSMISC. They have them there for $70.
