Paddle Gearshifting nonsense
I really dont like the Vanquish's gearbox. It makes the gear changing to easy. When the gear changes you sort of leap forwards, in a way of speaking . Also they don't offer the option of having a " clutch-and-gearstick" type transmission. Also its more challenging with the gearstick because instead of just twitching your fingers on a paddle your really thinking of everything and its more satisfying when you get it right. Who else thinks so?

yep, the paddle shifts are almost like F1 kind of gearbox but in manual you can do all kinds of driving manuevers such as heel and toe and etc.

Re: Paddle Gearshifting nonsense
Do you really think you can push the clutch, take the car out of gear, rev the engine to the proper rpm, down shift into the next gear, then disengage the clutch in 0.08 seconds? no, you can't. A standard is better than an automatic, but a F1 transmission toasts a standard.

Why would you have to rev-match (double clutch?) in car?....anyway, sure the F1 might be faster, but which one is more fun ? I've never driven a F1, but I think I would give up the fractions of a second lost in favor of a traditional stick. Most of the cars that offer them are already insanely fast anyway, but some cars that are fast don't even offer a standard (Mercedes AMG, etc.) Too bad......although I've never driven an F1 so I might like one after driving it.

Re: Paddle Gearshifting nonsense
NO, not double clutch. If you're going 140mph into a corner and about to downshift from 4th to 3rd you better be heal toeing to match your rpm's or you're gonna un-settle the entire car and eat a wall. The F1 simply does that for you.

the paddleshifts are actually enjoyable. The poster was right, as you "paddleshift" forward, the car seems to leap forward giving an amazing feeling. the car comes with a button which will change it into standard. but if clutch is your thing, then you might not like it...

Re: Paddle Gearshifting nonsense
the vanquish gear box was criticised so much because its a paddle shift box on a manual transmission but they improved this on the db9 because they put a paddle shift on an automatic. the early vanquishs all used to fry the clutch.

im not sure why it used to fry the clutch but numerous road tests when in low gears just burnt out their clutch at low speeds...beyond me lol! the fault has been rectofied now though.
