I don't know if you can get a Civic under 13 seconds with 6K. It would also depend on what model Civic you have. If you have an engine that produces low hp, I say go b18c5. But before anyone answers any questions we need to know what model it is.

But then you probably still need to either loose a lot of weight or gain quite a bit more power (more then typical bolt-ons) or some combination of both. The B18B is rated at 140 hp if I remember correctly and the B18C5 195 hp.

Well, the third gen (85-87) weighs something like 1900lbs stock tops (depending on the trim and specific year). Strip it down and it'll be even lighter. That's your biggest advantage.
Your biggest disadvantage is the engine bay is a little small, and swaps are complicated. So the question is are you doing the work yourself, or having it professionally done. Getting the swap done professionally is going to eat up your money pretty quick. It'll be pretty tough to get 13s reliably for 6 grand. If you have the tools and know-how to do it (mostly) yourself, go with a b16a turbo. The b16a swaps into a 3rd gen a lot easier than the b18s. The engine bay is rather small... even with the b16 you have to bang a dent into the driver's side frame rail to clear. The b16 is also considerably cheaper. With the turbo and good tuning, 13s are easy. Shoot for 11s. |

With 6K, you can get a Civic into the 12's.
I'd like to list the whole thing. but check out an example on my page. www.exospeed.com the webstore has a list of a complete swap. has everything you need to swap and its a formula for a high12 to low 13 sec car. Wil |

trade it in for a Z28SS, WS-6, or Firehawk SLP.

Swap in a JDM ZC. cost of engine and 5sp about $1,000
If the car is carbed then you need to convert to Fuelinjection. say about $500 fuel pump and lines, plus some wiring for the ECU. This should get you into the high 15s low 16s with I/H/E For about $2-3,000 you can add a Turbo kit. This will take you well into the 14s, and well tuned should push you into the 13s. But you would need to worry about suspension and brakes etc, would might soak up a another couple of grand. As well as possibly rebuilding the engine with lower CR pistons etc. Thats another easy $2,000 If you want someone else to do the work for you then double all the prices.
