buying a 01 GT

I will be buying a 01 GT with 35k miles on it. I'll have about a grand to spend on it right after i buy it and was wondering what mods i can get to boost up the HP. People have told me to get 4:10 gears on it the second i buy it. How much would getting new gears go for and would it be worth it? Also what kind of exhaust sounds the best on the 4.6?

4:10's if auto
3:73 if manual

Exhaust is the choice of the owner really, depends on what your looking for in a sound. I like the way Borlas sound on the 4.6's. Also get a K&N and some pullies for some starter mods. Former DSM owner??

dynomax. chambered mufflers suck! get a good h-pipe and long-tubes, and nice tips. 2.5 inches with 1 5/8 header primaries. you can get a good exhaust setup together for less than a grand. then pullies and gears. then a shifter if it's a stick, shift kit fi auto.

Unless you go really cheap there is no way to get a full exhaust system for an 01 GT for less than $1000. The only way you would get close is w/ unequal shorties, catless h-pipe and a cheap cat-back.

gears will run you around $600 installed with speedo calibration. Catback will run about $400-$500. For a thousand bucks that's your best bet.
