Re: 2007 XK series

I cannot believe they stuck a 300hp engine in that for $85,000! What other $85k car has 300hp? It also seems dumb to make us wait an entire year until they put a real engine in it! grrrrrrrrrrr

Re: 2007 XK series

I agree, this has been my biggest beef with the car. There are many reports talking about capturing the old days of the E-Type but as I understand it when the E-Type was launched it had monster performance compared with the competition. In this case you can get more bhp at half the price from many bland everyday cars.

I don’t know if this is because Jaguar did not have the time or money or if it is a deliberate marketing ploy. I have heard that car manufactures launch a new model one year to get the publicity and then a new engine a year or 2 later to give the interest level another boost.

What other $85k car weighs less than its predecessor?

Not one. In fact, the new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is the only new car over the past few years that weighs less than its predecessor. It also has an aluminum chassis.

The all-new 2007 XK Coupe will be priced from $75,500 and the 2007 XK Convertible will be offered from $81,500 which includes destination and delivery charges.

High praise from the magazine CAR

The following qoutes are from the March, 2006 issue of CAR:

"Firing down one incredible stretch of dual carriageway at 90 mph at the absolute limit of the tyre's adhesion, even the odd nasty mid-corner bump can't upset its composure."

"The XK has so much mechanical grip on dry tarmac that neither front nor rear wheels will deviate from the course you've plotted using the quicker-ratio steering rack unless you do something really daft."

"The big exterior change is at the back, which gains a hatch opening. Nothing so drastic inside: it's a clean, modern execution of a timeless formula, all the better for the absence of bells, whistles and robot butlers."

Re: 2007 XK series

I drove the new XK '07 convertible today. It drives nice. The sound is great. I was very disappointed with the interior. Miles of really cheap plastic. It had too much plastic for a $50,000 car, let alone an $80,000! Booo for the cheap ass plastic.

Everybody has an opinion.

Sports Car International drove the new XK recently and loved the interior.
