Scratch Built 1937 Mercedes-Benz L 10000 6x4 Heavy Truck

Hi,
regarding their racers and road cars it often recedes into the background that Mercedes is the world's oldest and (still?) largest truck manufacturer. Among many of their interesting designs the 1937 L 10000 is outstanding. To my mind it is the most atractive and most impressive Mercedes truck ever. In 1937 it looked like this (photos by courtesy of Daimler-Benz AG/ Daimler AG):

A particular feature of the L 10000 was its very low chassis that allowed low-loading platforms and large cargo volumes. Entering the exceptionally low cab was easy. Moreover this low chassis was an ideal basis for the typical double-decked Berlin busses.

Unfortunately no original L 10000 has survived. Only an O 10000, i. e. a bus, equipped as a rolling post office of the pre-war German Reichspost, is displayed at the fantastic new Mercedes museum in Stuttgart since the museum opening.

Compiling information for a scratch build was unsufficient for years, but as always the Mercedes museum archives were extremely helpful. They sent me lots of photos and photostats with most measurements at no charge. Unfortunately, however, all original scale drawings had been lost during WW2, hence a lot of drawing, arithmetics and eyeballing was still necessary.
The model is completely scratch built except the rims (modified Revell parts), the headlights and the small Mercedes star on top of the radiator. In 2005 I spent more than 1000 hours building it.

Thanks for the response!

There is sometimes a little confuson caused by this picture that can be found on the web searching for "Mercedes L 10000".

Indeed it shows an L 10000, too. This, however, is the 1938 model with the modern (but IMO less interesting) cab that more or less anticipates the design of Mercedes conventionals built until the early sixties.

I am sorry, but years ago I gave all pictures, photostats, drawings etc. to a fellow modeler. I saved only a few pictures (as shown above) for forum purposes.
