Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5 1/12
Hi,
after my Porsche 956 is done i started a new project. Or i had to say that Torsten from http://www.scaleautofactory.com started it for me. I ask him if he can do me a 3d-printed model of the Lancia Beta and Torsten started it very fast. So many thanks again to Torsten for his hard work and the great result. The next car is already in the making! http://www.scaleautofactory.com/buil...eta/review.xml He used a rfactor mod as starting point and made all the construction work. Every part was printed in his own 3d-printer. He changed ofter the design for the print parts and at the end i got my dream car the Lancia in 1/12 scale. My favorit livery is the "Fruit of the Loom" car of german driver Hans Heyer. He won the DRM champion of 1980 against the Porsche 935 and Turbo Capris with this Lanica. @ classic-car-market.de So he started his design with the mod and made it step by step ready for the printer. And after a while i got most of the parts ready for sanding work. Its a long way to the end for sure. But its easier to do this with that cool 3d technique than by the own hands. At the moment i started to cut all the windows out and after this is done i will glue the three body parts together. Thats all at the moment. This will be an long time project because i only do it at lunchtime at work. My first priority is the finish of my Porsche 956 dual build which will start in a few weeks. So dont expect too often an update here. This is time consuming. regards Christian |

Re: Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5 1/12
Hi Christian,
Great work and one of my favourite cars! I look forward to seeing this come together and being able to buy the kit myself - how long until they are available for sale? One thing on your designs though - the engine and gearbox in these cars are transversely mounted, as per the original orientation, rather than the inline transaxle arrangement you have made. I am sure though that this can be remedied. Keep the updates coming - I can't wait!!! Cheers Darren

you can order an printed copy - like Christian persented here - at: webmaster@scaleautofactory.com Then i can tell you the details and the price. Christian has requested an Curbside-Model. I have also an detailed engine and gearbox perpared. The picture with the engine here in the thread is taken from the rfaktor-Mod. I have adjusted the engine/gearbox-installation according to the orignal car. Regards Torsten www.scaleautofactory.com |

Many thanks for those great pics.
This was the race where Hans completely destroyed that beautiful Lancia. Great shots and very helpful. Yes there will be no copies from me.Its only a project for me alone. Just sent Torsten a mail when you also want a printed Lancia. regards Christian |

Re: Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5 1/12
continue with the Lancia.
The windows are out now.I used the Tamiya saw and it works fine. After that i glued all three parts together. Than i used a thicker spray filler for the body. At the end i used 2k putty for the body. Seams like a lot of work for me. regards Christian |

Re: Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5 1/12
Hi Christophe,
the main body part is now ready for the final coat of primer. But first i have to check the missing small details like holes or panel lines. But the rest is done and its quite smooth. Thats really not so much work as it looks when i started with. Some pics will come soon. regards Christian |

Re: Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5 1/12
Just another small update on the Beta.
The used 2k putty was sanded to a smoother surface.Just a bit better than before. So another shot of primer for the body. Still some putty in use and still some edges where needs for sanding. But after the windows are nearly ready it looked a lot better than before. Now is the surface just fine to use the first coat of light primer. But first i have to check all the small details that are missing.Air intakes, holes and panel lines have to be made first. Here are the parts that are printed by shapeways. The parts are finer than the ones from Torsten, but still needs a lot of sanding. thanks for watching this! all the best Christian |

Re: Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Gr.5 1/12
After the Porsche is done,i will restart the Lancia project.
Thats how it look like right now. The small parts are from shapeways and they are very good. The grill is so small, but very stable. The rear parts are done and the rear window must be casted in clear resin next. The decals are printed on paper to check the fit of the size next. After that Michael can print me the complete and water slide paper. regards Christian |
