[911 Tribute] Porsche 935 "Hawaiian Tropic" LeMans 1979

Hello,
I started another project, it's the Scale Designs porsche 935 in the
"Hawaiian Tropic" livery, driven by Rolf Stommelen, Dich Barbour and Paul Newman.


They finished 2nd overal and 1st in the class IMSA +2.5.


I started with the body from the Scale designs kit and made some modifications on the front wheel arches and the window trims.

The chassis will come from a Heller 934RSR.
( Some 934 Porsches were rebuilt to a 935, but I don't know if this one was once an 934, don't think so? )

The wheels will be taken from the "Moby Dick"

More progress,

the body is in primer and again sanded on the front fenders.

Also I added some rain gitters on both sides of the car ( white strips )
And window surround at the back window.

After sanding the body I added again primer till eveything looked ok.

This is how it looks at the moment, painted red and waiting for the decals to apply.

It looks like I did a lot in small time period, but I'm working on this one for a While.

u did very well in expanding the front fenders. the shape of the 935 changes immediately.

So cool livery also.
I am still waiting my decals from dmc.. LOL..

Joka, is this a 1:24 model? I just love this car and I didn't know decals were made in this scale.

Yes, it is 1/24th and was actually made to be used with a Tamiya Porsche 911GT2 kit; however, there is some minor changes in the rollcage. This transkit came with decals to do either the blue or red version. There were also versions to do the Brumos and Interscope 935's.

As far as I know, Scale Designs transkits are impossible to find. Any idea where I could get this one?

Hello guys,

some progress again.
Decals were applied, claercoat was added.

I also painted the wheels from the Moby Dick 935 to fit on the Barbour car.

At the moment I'm working on the windshields.

Next is to finish the window parts and then I can go on with the chassis and interior.

I finsihed this one.

I added the last decals on windscreen and wheel inserts, and a little photo-etch on hte bonnet. I filled the inserts with mesh.

Hope you guys like it.

I'll post some more pictures in the completed area.
