Re: fujimi civic EK9 time attack/track car
a bit more progress on this one.
I modified the dash with gauges, and one of my resin steering wheels that Ive casted. I also scratch built a roll cage from 2mm? styrene. here it is partially completed. and here all finished and dry fitted into interior of the car. you can see here i've used a non standard shifter, bit more race car look to it than the original, another cast piece of mine. the passenger seat is std civic type R, the drivers seat is a spare from a tamiya GTR group A. brakes also got painted, might still give them some extra detailing with a wash... so its coming along ok now, i just need to decide on paint work really. the small ducts in the front bar will either be filled in or opened up, i haven't decided yet. any thoughts on color anyone? Re: fujimi civic EK9 time attack/track car
Looks great! The roll cage is a particular treat. Any tips on bending the styrene for the pieces that sit under the A-pillar? Looks like a few pen lines to mark where you want to bend? Is it then careful heating+bending+measuring+repeat? This is something I want to do, but haven't yet tried.

Re: fujimi civic EK9 time attack/track car
thanks for the comments.
white might be a good option... postie, this is probably the 3rd or 4th cage ive done so its alot easier to do now ive done a few. I managed to get these ones done first attempt, but usually it takes a few goes. the marks are what you guessed, i just set the styrene rod in place and mark where it needs to be bent. heat needs to be just the right amount and very direct, dont heat up a large area or you wont get a good looking bend once heated, I then simply use the A pillar for angle reference. all done by eye, no exact measuring. i then use the first one and make a mirror image one for the other side. without a jig you can never make two the same so this is the best way to get both as close to being identical as possible. the first mistake i was doing at the start was overheating the styrene. when you do that you cannot control the bend as well. you get a feel for how much heat is enough or too much. maybe i'll do a tutorial someday?.... |

Re: fujimi civic EK9 time attack/track car
Nice work!
I know it's probably a little late but my colour suggestion was going to be some sort of Spoon yellow/blue setup. |

i'm actually still going on my s2000 in spoon colours (wip on this forum) that was actually one of the models i painted today as the original paint didn't go so well, so the s2000 wip will be updated soon too by the way.... ...anyway, my oint is ive already got that paint scheme going on one model, so im happy with plain white on this one. the white will go well with some CF parts too! |
