Mercon V vs LV

Hi!
I have been using Mercon V for my windstar 2000. Now it is not available here. Mercon LV and Motorcraft typeM. Can I use them instead of Mercon V? If not what are alternative?
Thanks in anticipation

Re: Mercon V vs LV

Hi! Another 2000 Windstar owner here (yes, it's still in daily use).

Based on the information I found: No, Mercon LV is not compatible with Mercon V.

I believe Type M is related to Mazda-designed transmissions (Ford has shared some vehicles with Mazda). I can find nothing that states it's compatible with Mercon V; I wouldn't do it.

I've had good results with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF, which claims to support the Mercon V standard. Can you get Mobil 1 products in your area?

Re: Mercon V vs LV

Mercon V is available from numerous places online, which is where I'd get mine if I needed some. Our vehicles use Mercon LV

I will also echo sticking with the Mercon V fluid.
If you cannot find it locally, you can order it online.
As mentioned, Mobil 1 makes a Mercon V compatible fluid that you can trust.
