Talking Electronic viscous fan retrofit to old vehicles

TODAY:Electronic Viscous fans are controlled by an electromagnetic coils and electrons that actuates a Reed valve for viscous material control.

Old technology uses a bimetal spring that rotates a shaft opening a "window Valve" That tecnology has become increasingly not reliable, if it ever was.

I have a project that I want to use an EVFC energized by coolant temperature input & a Dash switch.............forget the other inputs. In older vehicles (GMC motorhome/Olds 455) Has anyone ever attempted such an endeavor? Any suggestions. Not interested in Electric Fans.
