It more rewarding...

It's always more rewarding to do it yourself. It is also much cheaper for a penny pincher like myself.

Keeping with the thread...4WheelParts in San Diego is a great place to buy parts and a crappy place to have parts put on.

I don't really like the customer service either, I know it's Southern California but when they respond "Yea, dude we got those in stock",
and "Man you gota’ put 35s on the X - It will look real sick!", you have to wonder.

The best response I heard from a sponsor of the site here so I can't take them to task, but when I discussed an issue regarding the fit of something on my truck their response was " We have already tested and know that it fits." Hmm, I wonder if they tested under my specifications and with the worst case scenario in mind. I kinda doubt it. I truly don't believe they used my specs when they fit it. I wonder if they rung it through the ropes at Tellico like I did my setup. It's disappointing when I ask a question regarding specs and they refuse to give them to me and expect me to trust them 100%. I just can't do that. Too many bad things have happened when I trusted others implicitly.

As for our local 4 Wheel Parts house, I have been lucky. Thanks to our Truxpo win, they know who we are and are far more respectable to us. But I still wouldn't personally trust them to install much of anything for me. I just bought a set of 5 tires from them, but they are sitting in my garage waiting to go to work to be mounted.

My experience with 4Wheel Parts was iffy... The guy at the counter was kind of shady, he didnt' want to let me know about the sale they were doing, (buy 3 get one free) I got a kind of "Let's take advantage of the new blood" feeling from him. Then they put up a huge hassle about putting them on which I was lead to believe was a part of the deal, they really put out a snobby attitude.....but I was basically stuck with them cause there's not much over here by way of 4x4 parts, I think they knew that.....

When I finally got in the garage though, those dudes were nothin' but helpful. They offered to crank my torsions for free, (which I declined for the moment) and they did all the trimming on the inside of the wheel wells for me too....So far I haven't noticed any vibration, been about a month. SO, I'm content, but I wouldn't want to go back there again.
