1969 Cyclone

I need help finding out how much a 1969 Mercury Cyclone with a 428 Cobra Jet is worth. It does not run and needs total restoration. It was on blocks out in the weather since 1982.

Floors solid, no rust, engine turns over? Find this out and repost.

It is rusty. I don't know about the floors. The engine is probably seized. It has sat without oil in it since 1982

Re: 1969 Cyclone

I told him in a different thread 1,500, taking into account he's in California.

If you get any pictures, post them and we can probably give a better estimate.
The engine is the big unknown and the most valuable piece. Has it been sitting in an area that freezes? What if anything is in the coolant passages? If you pull the dipstick, what does the oil look like and what is the level? Have internal accesses been kept closed? i.e. air cleaner kept on it, all hoses kept connected, anyplace weather, dust, bugs, mice or stray nuts/bolts could enter. If no foreign materials have entered, had good testing antifreeze or never cold enough to cause a freeze crack, it probably still has internal rust from condensation. A fill up of the engine with tranny fluid including pouring through intake and spark plug holes with a long soak can many times loosen up an old engine.
There are other questions related to you. Do you want this car for yourself to keep forever, or is this something you just want to get done and flip for a profit?

Re: 1969 Cyclone

I don't know how long this link will last, but it is for a '69 Fairlane 428 Cobra Jet in perfect condition going for $31,000. Will be in about the same demand (maybe a little less) as the Comet. So you can go by that for a finished selling price if you are looking to flip.
