Man I'd love to own that car... It's supposed to have around 450bhp stock!! I also like to looks but I'd rather have the big lights in the back like the r34 instead. Oh well, maybe I'll get used to it.

man, that car is AWESOME,
but the sad part is that the US version will probably have 4.5 liter V8, non-turbo, unless they stop smokin weed and realize what they are doing and give gt-r a 3.5 v8 tt, or a good ol' 2.6 tt. I love 'em both. |

here's a bigger pic:
plus... The world's most technologically advanced driver's car is set for a major facelift, Auto Express can exclusively reveal. Nissan's outrageous new Skyline, the R35 GT-R, is set to succeed the current R34 and will hit the streets in 2003. So prepare for a gripping head-to-head battle with Porsche's 911 Carrera 4! Nissan feels it's important for the R35 to maintain the established image of the Skyline range which it will join. As a result, the front-engined, two-door coupé will proudly bear the red-and- silver GT-R badges, as well as the now-familiar sculpted rear wings and front spoilers. Under the skin, however, there have been major advances which promise that the latest Skyline will be the most driver-orientated version to date. The active torque-sensing four-wheel-steering system and six-speed gearbox are to be revised. The same goes for the suspension, which uses all-new springs and dampers to offer a smoother ride. The engines, too, are to be given a radical overhaul. There are two units under consideration: a normally aspirated 3.5-litre V8 and a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6. Either unit could in theory be tuned to develop somewhere in the region of 350bhp – far more powerful than anything the Japanese manufacturer offers at the moment. Currently, the 3.3-litre powerplant is the favoured choice, as it is expected to be seen in the manufacturer's Z Car coupé which is debuting at the Detroit Motor Show in January. And Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn is well aware that if the Japanese firm is to compete successfully on a global basis, it has to produce strong engines which are powerful enough to compete with Europe's finest supercars. this info is taken from http://www.autoexpress.co.uk pretty contradicting.... comparing to the info on the first post. and as i said, i'd rather have it 3.5 or 3.3 litet TT than a 4.5 liter non-turbo, everybody agree? |

LOVE IT! Wonderful styling, but I personally think those rear fenders leave something to be desired. But, with 450 bhp there's not much room to complain. Now, let's just see if it'll make it to US shores.

Is the R35 really coming to America? I've heard contradicting things from various sources... If it is, everyone better start putting money in their piggy bank...cause the high performance war is just about to heat up!

Here's an idea.... How about Nissan releasing the GTR internationally under the Infiniti name badge? Although it wouldn't sound right saying it, but it would definitely get an upscale reputation. People who haven't heard much about it will know that the GTR is a refined performance car just by seeing the name Infiniti.
Just a thought.... |

it's going to be released under the Infiniti badge for SURE. Probably Infiniti R35, though I dont like the name, that's what nissan is considering right now. I want "Skyline GT-R" to remain as the car's name.

The R-35 GTR won't be called a Skyline, it would carry the name Nissan GT-R. 450hp stock sounds doubtful, 350 is more like it. I think its criminal to put a non turbo V8 in this car, but thats just my opininon.. I'm not saying a V8 is bad, its just not suited to this car, and it had its heritage built up on a RB26DEtt which is the current 2.6tt, handling will suffer massively if a V8 is to be introduced and it would kill the sales, because people who have the cash to buy a brand new 2 door sportcoupe would pick an Aston Martin or similar over a Nissan. They were even considering(and maybe are still) putting the 3.0 V6 from the Maxima, but i hope this wont happen. The engine in the GTR , IMHO, has to be a turbo engine..

I agree with EMV.
I want the Skyline GT-R to be called Skyline GT-R. not Infiniti R35 or whatever they have in mind, them weed smokers. a non turbo v8 4.5 litre would suck big time too. i say they keep the 2.6 inline TT - the RB26DETT yeah! or they could make RB30DETT. that would be awesome in my opinion. if 2.6l can be tuned to like 1200hp, imagine what 15.3% {yup, i used my calculator} increase would do! 1200x1.153=1383.6hp. sweet. |

wow...wow.oww...
Did I hear "Aston Martin" in your post there, EMV? What's the lowest priced Aston Martin you can get? It will probably cost around $150k. Nissan wants R35 GT-R to be around $60k. |

Why the heck are you all complaining about the name?? They can call it the Infinite Hot-Dog flavored car and I'd still buy it....
Infiniti uses alpha numeric stuff (G20, I30, Q45, etc) R35 fits in perfectly.... DUH! Anyways I'm very excited about this car (however 50 bucks says it won't look THAT aggressive when they release the real thing...) Every concept I've ever seen the car never looks that cool.... that mean, that aggresive.... they always ALWAYS tone it down.... I hope it does come to the US..... if the WRX does well maybe it will.... I know I'll be buying one FOR sure if it comes here.... Sweeeeeeeet.... my first car will be the new WRX, 2-3 years down the road I buy a R35.... HAW!!! That's killer...... All I need is a Evo 7, RX-8 and a S16 Silvia and I'm set! heheh |

Everyone here knows that the name Infiniti R35 fits perfectly, since they're even thinking of putting a 3.5 liter v8 TT. But I think it would be wrong to just throw GT-Rs heritage away like that....

I don't know why you guys are worrying so much. Unfortunately all we can do is wait (and hope). However, maybe Nissan should listen to us, and build this R35 (or whatever it will be named)according to what we want. Why not offer a V6 (I6) or V8 -both in NA and Turbo configuratons. Most importantly, DO NOT MAKE IT AS HEAVY AS IT'S PREDECESSORS. That one tidbit (other than styling conflicts by some - by no car is universally liked) kept the Skyline from being the BEST SPORTS CAR ever made. Even still it came close. I have seen many call it "the best all around sports car" and "the ultimate GT car". The interior needs to be mch better than last time as well. That I don't understand...compare it with the Glorious S15 interior!? They put more inside with a car that cost 1/2 and 1/3 of another? Other than that, I really like the way it looks with the computer generated image. I can't wait till it all goes down!
