PORSCHE ZENTRUM (dealership)

Hello fellow modelers,

we don't remember exactly how we came up with the idea of building a Porsche Zentrum in 1:25 scale. Must have been similar to the Cayman Interseries (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin /showthread.php?t=1010880) idea.

One guy had the idea and the same people screamed "yeah, great idea let's do it". Our friend Dirk (dpbeetle) happened to know a guy how knows a guy who had access to the original drawings of the Porsche Zentrum XY

As always, contacts are the key to insane projects. The plans were copied (Frank-Frafi) from 1:100 to 1:25 scale. That was some two years ago... Optimistically as we modelers are, we thought we'd have it finished by FFM2009 Yeah right. I always said that it would be 2010 (or even later).

With the Cayman Interseries build thread hitting it big time here on AF and across the pond with the real people behind it we needed a suitable display base for the Cayman models. Wedug out the dusty plans and started to draw a diorama that is mighty big, yet transportable with commonly available road vehicles. Several weeks ago I organized the MDF boards, 4mm Forex boards cut to size, color, iron columns (made from styrene, of course) and wooden rods.

With business being slow these days due to the soccer worldcup in South Africa, I had time to actually start building the basic structures. I hope the other "workers" are going to discard their vuvuzelas and show up some day. Allright, enough said. Pictures say more than words ;-)

Oh... yes.

The car in the pictures is a 1:24 Welly GT3RS. Does look a bit small doesn't it?

My god this is HUGE! I would like more the new Stuttgard museum style, but I think this also would be fantastic as a playground for the Caymans

Why 1/25? Just numeric semplicity?

To our side, our guys was so kind that they let us to break our vuvuzelas much time ago, or to use them to support other great teams ("other" not in the sense that our was a great team.... the opposite.... , but I think we and French guys deserve the experience , much still to learn about sport and fair style...) like Germany, Brazil, Holland or Argentina.... would be fun anyway

Well... because it is HUGE, like you mentioned. In 24 scale it would be even bigger. Therefore we choose 25 scale

A little side project...
I'm intrigued about the portable part. I was gonna throw a corner office joke out but you started with the square part, oh well.

Great idea and start! Can't wait to see it finished! I always thought about building a dealership for my model cars, but it would be too big due to the scale.

Re: PORSCHE ZENTRUM (delaership)

I couldn't figure the plan out till I saw the elevation on the dealer home page. It's a very nice looking dealer showroom. Any chance of someone adding some more pics of the structure, interior, bays, etc.

I've been interested in architectural models for years (paper 1:300 scale) so I'll be watching and enjoying. And yes, 1/25th is huge!
