Tamiya 1/12 Honda RCV Stoner Cutaway
Here is the last one I finished. It's the great Tamiya kit of the Stoner Honda RCV bike. I really enjoy the Tamiya bike kits but I feel like we miss a lot of the details with the fairings on and I do not like to remove them all the time. I went for a compromise, one side is built with fairings on, on the other side, I cut big windows to show some of the details. I am sure it will not be to everybody's liking but it works for me!
Here are the pictures: post image online I tried several techniques for the carbon finish: decals and painting with mesh. I like the fact that painting is way much faster and looks more realistic although it does not show too good on the pictures. Comments and criticism are welcome.

Very nicely done! I've actually just finished this kit as well and should be posting mine soon. I like the painted carbon effect; I'll have to learn how to do that myself someday.

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Honda RCV Stoner Cutaway
chris - why did you change the pics??????
They were better the way you posted them first when you post "thumbnails" people cannot see your work and when you use a third party photo source the pics will drop off your thread at a later date - Put the pics back like they were in my opinion so the people on the forum can appreciate your work - John |

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Honda RCV Stoner Cutaway
Sorry Chris - It must have been a Forum thing - because when I was looking at your thread last night the pics were "thumbnail" size pics and when I clicked on them to make them bigger I was redirected to "photoimage.com" - to purchase copies of the pictures.
Now today I'm visiting your thread again in response to your post and the pics are full size again??????? Not sure what was going on with that Anyhow I liked you work - you should build more bikes - you're good at it John |
