Finishing PE

One thing I don't see discussed here much is how to finish PE parts. I struggle a lot with this. I've tried using keys, steelwool, self-etching primer and nothing seems to work. I get the final finish on the part and if I even look at it sideways a big chip falls off and exposes the raw alum or SS or whatever material it happens to be.

So I thought I'd ask and see what process you guys use to finish PE parts.

Have at it!

Re: Finishing PE

Can you give some details as to the kinds of pe parts you've had trouble with? There are different techniques I use for different situations. As you've noticed, pe can be terrificly difficult to paint (or keep painted)- it suffers from being both metal and flexible. But some techniques may work better in certain situations than others.

Re: Finishing PE

What you need is some Etching Primer to bite into the metal. Try this one http://www.hobbyworld-usa.com/Store/...in-120ml-.html

Re: Finishing PE

i use mr hobby metal primer (ex: https://www.eltallerdelmodelista.com...ml?language=en). i have not experienced chipping with it so far, even after applying it on a panel line template set which i regularly bend (i use it mainly on aircraft kits).
