Misfire S-Type 3.0 V6
Hello,
my Name is Hans, I'm from Germany. Maybe you can help me. I bought a 3.0 V6 S-Type from 2000 with some misfiring problems. There is no engine light on. As I bought the car a few days before it had misfiring when the engine was idle and in acceleration. Today I looked for the sparks and changed the coils. Than I dismantled the car computer (I don't know the right english word --> The ECU(?) right under the dashboard) and cleaned the connectors with contact cleaner. I think the connectors get some water over the cable under the bonnet. Now the car has some misfiring and sounds a little bit strange when the engine is idle, but it is ok when I accelerate and drive. I read the failure codes and got the following: P3186 --> variable camshaft timing over advanced bank 2 I had messure the solenoid and it had about 11 ohms, so it seems to be ok. Has anybody an idea for the problem? Sorry for mistakes in write and grammar Best regards, Hans |
