Reworked TV cars

When watching some shows as a kid, you tend to think that anything and everything is cool. As a grown man, when I watch those old shows, I can't even imagine what was it that I saw in those cars, etc....

That's why I like it when they revise the old cars and give it a fresh look like in the recent A-Team movie and the current Green Hornet...

I was sad however that the A-Team van didn't get that big a role in the movie...
But I'm happy to say that I'm impressed with the Black Beauty from the new Green Hornet movie... by far the coolest thing in the movie.

Any other TV cars that were given a fresh look

Re: Reworked TV cars

The Knight Rider car was changed two times after the original television series went off the air sometime around 1986. First a gorgeous Pontiac Trans Am in gloss black with a roving red scanner on its nose, KITT was later re-imagined as a re-worked Dodge Stealth in red. This was used I believe for a television movie or two, the first of which was pretty underwhelming in my opinion. Finally, about three years or so ago, in the newest and now finished series lasting only one season, KITT was again re-imagined as a Mustang, which, again in my opinion, simply didn't work. Too bad they couldn't just return to KITT as the original Pontiac Trans Am....It would've been a real challenge, but perhaps a truly creative and satisfying one, to see story lines featuring a car still well ahead of its time technologically, but with the 1980s body sensibilities that made the show a success for four years!!!

The answer I have to that is simple...
The new show was awesome in some areas.... The gadgets and stuff were more realistic and a full head-up display inluding phone conversations??
The outshell emulating some of the touchscreen features to rival an iPhone???
Being able to morph into other vehicles for camouflage and off road..... Got to admit... that was awesome. Being able to be hacked like a normal computer, that's real. There are people trying to hack into the US defence dept network practically everyday and doing it... Frankly do-able in these days and did bring about a modern touch....
Where the show lacked was in the sense that it became more like "Viper" in look and overall appeal. That I wasn't too keen on... Yes it was nice touch, but could have been acted out better.... But that's my opinion on the show....

Now as for the car.... it suited the part. We need an all American muscle car and why not an icon?? And besides.... it was a 'Mustang'. A mustang is a horse... The show is called Knight Rider.... Knights ride horses... Makes sense now???....

What I would have loved to see is the old Michael Knight (Hasselhoff) and the old KITT make an appearance in the new series... 'cos in the '98 TKR series... they did show KITT's module to be intact in the last episode.... Too bad they stopped the show from there......

Re: Reworked TV cars

Of all the iconic tv show cars that got a huge upgrade and update.. Green Hornet has to be it. It looks the business, has awesome gadgets and played a huge role in the movie... Where would Seth Greene have been without that Black Beauty...
Frankly its the only reason to watch the movie over and over again. Its just taht awesome.

Knight Rider... I would love for the show to have another season with the new mustang... or give the 82 Trans Am those same awesome features the new car had.

A-team... We need the van with all its tech to have a better role.

Ofcourse tv series or movie... there is one car that cannot be changed even if you made a new version of the movie.. Guess what it is...

Re: Reworked TV cars

The reworked the General Lee for the Dukes movie. Aside from the obvious build up in the movie- they gave it a Hemi engine, aftermarket steering wheel and floor shifter.

The TV show it had a 440 engine, with stock interior parts (and magically acquired a bench seat every now and again to accommodate Daisy riding in the middle)
