What after Market Scanner?????
Hello Everyone!
Was not sure where to post this question? But I'm a Master Tech At a GM Dealership. From time to time I think of buying a After market scanner. Have read many reviews. Have narrowed down to the OTC Genisys and Pegisys. Also Like the Hanatech Scanners. Does not have to be brand new. Was also looking on ebay. I have used the Modis. Didn't like it. To heavy and slow for me. That was a few back. Also Everything from snap on is to much money. Would like to be able to have the options of many vehicles and bi-directional functions, Also TPMS re-learn. And have thought about what would also work with the new vehicles that need online support. Look forward to all opinions and advice! |

Re: What after Market Scanner?????
Thanks for response James. What exactly do you use the Genisys for? What do you think of the 4 channel scope option and 5 gas module option? Do you know if there is much difference between the Genisys with power on/off power button and with out? If you wanted to spend the money, would you choose a Snap on Verus??

Re: What after Market Scanner?????
GM Master Tech, I use my Genisys mostly for ABS and Airbag problem scanning on Mainly domestic vehicles. I have a small shop of my own and normally do work on weekends and the Genisys works very well for me. My Snap-On man is always trying to get me to "upgrade" to the Verus but I am satisfied with what I have for now. I personally like the power on off button but I could get by without it. I really still learning all about mine and it has many functions I haven't used yet but certainly will eventually. Some people I've read are not satisfied with the Genisys because they say it's slow, all I can say is I am pleased with mine and I'm very glad I made this Investment.

Re: What after Market Scanner?????
Thanks jamesslcx.
I to have read some don't like it. But there is a lot gray area there. I found a great deal online for a A Genisys with scope and Gas Module. Those are 2 things I have never had. Got by with out them. But I love having my tools. The price is right! I had them in the past I would have used them when needed. |

Re: What after Market Scanner?????
GM Master Tech, once you have one you never know how you got by without it. for a long time I used a parts store "scanner", when I finally bought the Genisys it was a night and day difference! What can I say? I'm a tool junkie but I use everything I buy. Good Luck.
