Angry 99 Honda Civic DX stalls in hot weather - why?

I've replaced the ignition coil
I've replaced the fuel pump
I've replaced the main relay
I don't have air conditioning
If it's 80 degrees or hotter, it will stall after a few minutes of driving
It doesn't smell like rotten eggs, so the catalytic convertor is good
When I try to start it up right after it stalls, it starts up for a second, then shuts back down
It starts back up in a couple minutes

I've spent $836 so far, and I need help diagnosing this problem, or else I'm going to have to sell this thing for parts!

Have you checked the fuel pump relay?

check your air filter. When hot it needs more air and less fuel. Check your MAF sensor also. There is also a ambient air temp gauge on the air intake hose that tells the car how rich or lean the mixture should be. but I would be checking the air flow in general. Any restrictions like bad filter or plugged cat. Maybe you have a vacuum leak.

The ignition control module you may want to have tested. Its free at autozone but you need to take it off first. The MAF and ambient air temp you can test with a volt meter.

Re: 99 Honda Civic DX stalls in hot weather - why?

I own an Acura 1999 1.6 EL (only in Canada). In fact, it is only a well equipped Honda Civic EX. I experienced your problem before and it is a recall. The problem is with the ignition wiring assembly/harness. My first time was replaced for free by dealer. The first time happened on around 160,000 KM. The second time happened on around another 180,000 km. I have to pay from my own pocket. I bought the wiring from the dealer and take it apart from the old one. Please note that I have to unplug some of the wire under the steering wheel and replug to the new wiring assembly. Otherwise, you will think some of the wiring is missing from the new part. Just replaced one wire after another, simple. Then, your situation will be gone for good.

Does anyone know the part number or recall number for the above ignition wiring assembly/harness? I occasionally have the same thing happen to me during the summer time.
