Can't get key in ignition

Parked my 03 Rendezvous this evening and when we came back to it, the key won't go into the ignition and the wheel is locked. I tried rocking it, pulling hard in the direction the tires were turned, rocking the car while trying to turn the wheel and mildly cursing at it. Nothing worked.

Any suggestions? The ignition has never given me any problems before.

Re: Can't get key in ignition

Are you saying that you can't get the key in the lock cylinder, or that you can, but can't turn it?

Did you park on a hill? When you park on a hill, with foot on brake, you put into park, apply e-brake, and THEN you remove your foot from the brake....just for future referance

If you parked on level ground, apply e-brake, then you can try jacking up the front end so the wheels are off the ground, and try turning the wheel left and right as you try to turn the key......if it won't turn, then you have a tumbler problem....

You can jack up the front end on a hill, but should apply e-brake and ALSO block the rear wheels.....

Re: Can't get key in ignition

It was parked on flat ground and yeah, the key won't go into the cylinder. It's at my mechanic at this point because it couldn't stay where it was. I'll post up once I find out more.
