Are there alternative trannys for 98 Trooper?

are there tougher transmissions to put in 98 troopers to look into before fixing or rebuilding original? i have read most of the problems and solutions here and will start diagnosing mine. every selection on my auto trans does not respond, its as if its still in p. or n. . no trouble light, no noise, no nothing, and engine seems great. cant drive at all.

Check the range mode sensor AND volt output on the alternator BEFORE doing anything to that transmission.

Also, how's your ATF fluid level and condition?
