2000 Camry Blow Motor Resistor Location
Hello,
We have 2000 Camry with Blower fan only working in 2-3&4 positions. Lowest, 1st setting does not work at all. I figured its the resistor or relay causing this, however do not know where its located in the car. Ill be glad to replace it with a new one if someone could point out where to look, inside under the dash like on older ones or under the hood somewhere? Here what Ive found in search: You need a new "blower motor resistor". It should be located under the dash on the passenger side near the blower itself. Follow the wiring from the blower motor. It will have a wiring connector on it and after disconnecting that, it should be held in by 1 (possibly 2) screws. The back side of it will look like something with 4 springs in a diamond shape; 2 of the springs will be broken. Take it out and take it to your closest dealer. This is a dealer only part and should cost about $50-$60. This is an easy do-it-yourself repair. Appreciate the help

Re: 2000 Camry Blow Motor Resistor Location
I'm the one who wrote that, I think. It was a while ago. Again I suggest looking for it under the passenger side of the dash. While I personally haven't worked on a generation 4 blower motor resistor, they are all usually right near the fan motor itself. As I said before, follow the wiring back from the fan motor itself. The resistor is usually in the blower motor housing itself, as it is cooled by the fan while the fan is running. The newer type of resister may not look like pen springs anymore, but it will be obvious when you find it. You can also go to your Toyota dealer's parts department first to get the part, or just to look at it so you will know what it looks like. That should make finding it easier.
You can also refer to the Generation 4 Toyota technical service manual stickied at the top of this forum. It is available there for free downloading. This really is an easy DIY repair. Good luck. Mike |
