Stop Chris Bangle petition

I was reading about the Z4 in the March 2003 issue of Business 2.0, and it mentioned that there was a Stop Chris Bangle petition. it also said that there is a german one. the one here in the states has 4,206 signatures and says:

"The undersigned thank you, BMW, for creating our dream cars. Please continue doing so, fire Chris Bangle, and do no allow him to design (ruin) any more of your wonderful BMWs."

needless to say, i want to find this petition and add my name to it. does anyone know anything about it?

for starters the new 7, the z4, and the upcoming 5. . .

i just wish they made the z3's body as rigid as they made the z4's, but i guess thats what you get when you throw together a car. . .

No whay, the generation before was way more handsome, actually it looked like an architectural masterpiece. This new 7 looks atrocious like a Hunday.

We want nicer BMWs!!
Fire Chris Bangle!!
Strap him to the chair!!
Fry his ass!!

That new 5 series looked like it was designed by a rabid designer that went crazy on the clay model with his razor blade, and the Z4 as well.

And what the hell did he do to the BMW headlights? They used to look like mean eyes, but now the lights make the car look like its half asleep. I however dont mind the Z4 THAT much. And the rest of new cars are not that THAT bad compared to other car companies but they are not up to BMW par. What do you guys think about the new 1&6 series?

I haven't seen the 1 & 6 series yet;
BUt the new 3-series looks nice;
I like the headlights more than the prev. ones; they look sleeker.

Well, to look on the bright side, all these new ugly cars are only going to drive up the value and demand for my old handsome e30

but it was always my dream to get a brand new E46 330Ci or M3, i just cant now, and the way things are going, i dont think i will want to buy a brand new bimmer. . .

the z4 i and the 7 are great cars, nobody complains about anything about these cars besides the look. i mean under the skin, they are still pure bmw quality. however i forgot to mention complaints about the 7s iDrive, but other then that the complaints are all about the way it looks. . .

in any case, does anyone have any info on this petition?

I signed this petition. Can you sign a petition twice on petition-online, or does it ban your IP? I have a dynamic IP

The petition should be too kill Chris Bangle via capital punishment, so that the fool can't go to another car company and ruin their nice designs. This petition has been around for ages and I don't think it has had mich effect because Bangle is still designing (or trying to design) cars.

disagree, but....

How quickly we all forget.... E36 style was outrageous when introduced, people whined and said how ugly it was. It is a part of being in love with the greatest car manufacturer that you have to deal with. Its called change... you can either lead or follow and BMW has always chosen to lead...Others will follow this design.. Just watch. If the design is so offensive then maybe you should switch to Hondas, their changes are very subtle and follow the current market trends....as for design..well, I'd be willing to bet it wasnt just one person who made the call...so get off your high horse and be proud to own one of these masterpieces....

i wasnt around bimmers when the E36 was introduced, however of all 3ers i would have to say it is my least favorite. not bad, just not my fave.

other car companys have been making odd looking designs too, i also voice my dislike for those designs as well.

this is my opinion, your entitled to yours.

maybe it was not only him, but there is a reason that the 7 is going under a face lift this summer. i read in bimmer magazine that this summer they are taking the 7 and changing some of the design elements so that by fall a different look will be achieved. i wonder what the reason for this is. . .

personally i love the z4, i think it looks like a shark (am i crazy?) but as for all the other body changes like the 7 series, i hate it. i liked it when a bmw looked like a bmw. now they look like any other luxury car
