either your AC clutch is going bad or you dont have enuff freon in the system to turn over. AC clicks once when the clutch kicks in and again when going off. Constant clicking is a sign of climate control problem

Exclamation Re: My 2002 Galant DE Makes wierd clicking noise from A/C

The clicking noise is not the compressor, it is the blender unit. There is a box and ducting behind the dash which mixes the hot and cold air relative to the control. I have the same problem (just bought the car used). I suspect either the control solenoid or the flapper is sticking. Not a serious problem so it may be some time before I tear into it. When I do I'll post.

Red face Re: My 2002 Galant DE Makes wierd clicking noise from A/C

Hi,

Am new here - but a Galant owner - so i guess we have something in common.

The A/C related noise ... i think the unit that houses the 'cogs/gears' that move the A/C vents is messed. What this means is that when the gears are moving and it gets to the broken part, it misses and clicks ... which means you can't have the A/C work properly.

So you will need to go under the glove compartment with some light, poke your finger in there and operate the A/C. If it is what i described above, you will actually feel the cogs try to go beyond the cracked 'tooth'.

To fix it, you need to unscrew the unit that is having the clicking sound and totally take it apart; then ensure you don't lose the broken 'gear tooth' ... use super glue and some sand or flour to put it back. Re-assemble the unit and put it back. after that, you should be good to go.

Hope this helps ...

wow me too..i did find that it was behind radio. pulled radio no help cant get to it. pulled temp control assem. no help cant get to it. It looks like the entire venting system has to be removed but a/c has to be discharged first. 5 or 6 bolts hold the whole thing in..huge job and I have cold a/c will wait till falll to tackle it.
