Big G!

The 323ci is a pretty slick piece. I test drove the 323 sedan w/ 5spd. and sport package, and I thought is was a nice drive. Having said that, I thought it was worth maybe $3k over the fully loaded Maxima SE 5-spd I eventually purchased, but not the $11k or so more that the dealer.

Now that the Max has some autocross track time under it's belt, I will say that rwd. sounds like a lot more fun than fwd., and maybe I would have pushed that premium up to $5k, but that would have only gotten me into a "stripper" 3 -series, and who wants to pay over $30k for a car without leather, climate control, etc.?

Power between the two is pretty similar...MAX has more flex in the low and mid-range; while the Bimmer sounds sweeter when you wind it out. Bimmer has a clear edge in handling, but interior is not as roomy. Bimmer brakes are MUCH better.

Oh, you asked for specs...not my opinion. Well you can follow this link and get the scoop on specs for yourself. By the way, I think for 2001 its the 325ci now...same size motor as before, but a bit stronger than last year.
