Sunroof won't move vertically
It's a sordid tale, yet here it is.
Have an HHR with sunroof. It worked fine, back/forth and up/down, until an... "event". One day, it wouldn't close, as the pop-up screen got jammed and wouldn't close, and someone (else!) ripped off the screen and its support bars. It then would work horizontally (front/back), yet no longer went up/down. So it won't "close", and if it could "close", it won't go "up" in the rear (eg: "vent"). So it sounds that it's working horizontally, yet not vertically. At this point, there's the big picture of wondering what happened, and how to work around it. Yet right now, we'd like to figure out how to just close the darned sunroof. As it will only work horizontally, it'll close, yet only until the point that it's expected to go vertically in the rear. So it's "closed" in the front, yet it's "drooping" in the rear. If all else fails, we can live with knowing how to elevate the rear vertically, so there's a seal, then we'll pull the sunroof fuses. Yet best-case is figuring out if there was a sensor that was disrupted, or something else that we can repair, so that it will work horizontally and vertically. We understand that the screen was a "convenience" thing ("buffetting"), we've seen many sunroofs where there's a "shield" in the front that re-directs air when the sunroof is "open"... yet best-case is everything is back to normal with buffeting, worst-case is closed (and fuses pulled) to limit wind-noise and water-issues. How do we get the sunroof to move vertically again?! Anyone?! Help! : ) |

Re: Sunroof won't move vertically
Your best bet is to find another HHR with a sunroof, to watch how all the linkages work.....something could be bent/missing.......I seriously doubt they sell parts for these modules.......finding a module in a bone yard may be your only hope....
Even then, getting it out without damaging it, is no easy task.... |
